Now for not a normal post...

have you ever been so scared you almost threw up?

couldn't stop shaking?

didn't know if you should run or pace?

Well Maiya went missing

she was upstairs playing will her pal Noah till we realized she wasn't there. A few calls "Maiya" went unanswered. Loud calls went unanswered. Kyle and Meg searched the house. I searched the backyard, then the cars, then the garage. Shortness of breath kicked in
then I decided to head to the neighbors and grab the phone at the same time. Outside in the neighbor's front yard I heard Meg scream: HERE SHE IS
I almost collapsed.

I am going to go say a HUGE prayer of thanks

want to see where she was? she is very good at Hide and Seek:
(but it helps if you don't fall asleep where you hide)

MAN she's good! And obviously sleep-deprived!

I once lost a kid while I was babysitting as a teenager. Did the same thing, called all over for her (she was what, 3?). Could NOT find her, called her parents, they had to cut their dinner with friends short to race home, only to find her sleeping amongst her stuffed animals in the corner of her bed. She totally looked like one of them when I searched that room.

Needless to say, they did not invite me to babysit for them again.

I lost Aubryn in Wal-Mart once. I know I'm a bad parent. Thought I was going to die. That is soooooo cute where you found her. Classic.

Heart stopping but adorable. Not to sound preachy-but when you said that you were going to say a prayer of gratitude about this event, it reminded me of something from my bible class. IN fact, it is the only thing that has moved me in any way. But anyhow, it was talking about where our priorities lie. Such as if something good happens, do you run to the phone to share with a spouse, mother, friend or do you hop on the computer and blog or send emails or do you share with the Lord whatever it was. I call people or blog and it was a good reminder of what is important. Not that my habits have really changed that much but I do think more about that. Just thought I'd share. Hope you don't think I was out of line:)

Holy Crap! How scary... but... that picture is a true classic.

One time I lost Johnny in Kohl's when he was about 2 or 3 years old and they did a "code yellow" which means all the store employees start looking for the lost child. Long story short... he was hiding under some men's hanging pants. I pulled him out and he was laughing. I was mad and grateful at the same time.

I've had a few moments of freak out where my heart jumps.
Preteen is a scary word, I agree. Shawn fits in there also. Already at the stage where girls e-mail him etc. He still thinks that's gross and embarrassing, I'm all for that. It's better that Ben hear things from you that you might think sound mean because I think it would be worse to hear them from a peer. Did you hear, mothering is hard.

I am so glad that she was safe and sound. She is so tiny she could find all sorts of great places to hide. It is too cute that she fell asleep. I bet you look there first the next time you can't find her for whatever reason.

Sheesh! Glad she was found and still safe inside your home. That picture is adorable!! I am so impressed that she fell asleep there! Maybe I should put Wesley on a shelf and see if that helps him sleep better :)

I love that...although I hate what you probably had to go thru emotionally (I can only imagine!). But how classic is that picture? Wow.

That is so scary. The same thing happened to me last year with Elyse except that she went into the garage and got stuck. I had called 911, but for some reason it disconnected right as I found her. I know the feeling.
