Oz has a great but very simply philosophy - that everybody had a heart, that everybody had a brain, that everybody had courage. These were the gifts that were given to people on this earth, and if you used them properly, you reached the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And that pot of gold was a home. And a home isn't just a house or an abode..., Its people. People who love you and that you love. That's home. - Ray Bolger aka the Scarecrow
People of various income-levels pursued subprime mortgages not just lower-income folks... and often if not even primarily outside of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. I also find it hard to believe that after six years of GOP lockdown that Bush could not gat a bill passed to change the parameters of how those companies could operate.
But let's give the benefit of the doubt and assume that the Democrats are truly and wholly responsible for the housing crisis. Then who would responsible for the collapse on Wall Street?
One major reason why the housing bubble was created was because many people started to distrust stocks. The level of (de)regulation of the stock market has been determined by Republicans whose various campaigns have themselves been funded by the same investment companies that are currently being bailed out and allowed those entities to operate largely unfettered. If Obama's hands are supposedly dirty, then McCain's hands aren't exactly clean, either. (For another entertaining and lengthy video, check out keatingeconomics.com .)
Since various arms of both the financial and real estate industries are currently being bailed out, I think one could say that both parties share a fairly equal responsbility for our current economic situation. So assuming that's a wash, I think the election will - or at least *should* - be decided on other issues.
Assuming that Obama does win, I hope that he and the would-be Democratic Congress don't run roughshod over the GOP majority like what was experienced during the first six years of W. Then again, with some of Pelosi's actions, you may be in for a rough ride.

well said Tony. I just wish I could trust someone. I wish there was thruth serum as to who is funding who on both sides. Government seems riddled with secret dealings on both sides. All I know I am for less taxes, but I want the economy to survive too. Wow I sound like Palin. I'm a maverick LOL
