Oz has a great but very simply philosophy - that everybody had a heart, that everybody had a brain, that everybody had courage. These were the gifts that were given to people on this earth, and if you used them properly, you reached the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. And that pot of gold was a home. And a home isn't just a house or an abode..., Its people. People who love you and that you love. That's home. - Ray Bolger aka the Scarecrow

Bye-Bye Icky!- cont.
I meant to blog the story of "bye-bye" icky but was out of time. We put in the snipped off corner of Icky. She kissed it and made a wish - I cried, but kept my face hidden by the camera! She insisted that her bear was male - even came up with the very original name "Boy" and insisted on boy clothes for it. - Would have got pictures of that but ran out of battery juice in the camera. Saying bye-bye to lovies, must be commonplace now at Build-a-Bear, lady said three other kids had been in that week to put their pacifiers in a bear. I just hope there isn't bear homicide at a later date to retrieve said lovies. Maiya hasn't been tempted yet. Probably because she knows the whole thing is not in there. In fact she has handled the whole thing remarkably well. Only has asked for it twice. She did have a night terror/walking in her sleep episode last night - Meg found her wandering downstairs around midnight - she claimed Daddy was "lost" through her tears. I think that had she had Icky she would have had the bad dream, then grabbed that and went back to sleep. But she is fine overall - It is like everyone says harder on me than her!

Lots of good news
Good times, good times...
First the obvious - We are thrilled to be adding a little girl - and yes I will answer what I assume are your burning questions:
1. How do I feel about the baby being a girl? Yes I am obsessed with the number two and yes a boy would have made a wonderful set of two girls and two boys but (as my Dad would say there is always a big but...) I did have a tickly feeling this was a girl - even though I SWORE to everyone that I had no idea. There were signs: I saw an adorable little teeny tiny dress and knew I needed a little girl to put in it. And our reservations to Disney came last week and and the travel agent took it upon her self to give "Infant Oyakawa" a gender, yup : Girl. So for the record - I am thrilled that I will be the mother of one boy and three girls. Even though he is a boy's boy - Benjamin couldn't possibly be a better big brother to his sisters. And as far as companionship I think our new little girl will fit right in - as opposed to boys eight years apart. So there have been no pangs in my heart to change our plans for permanent birth control. The only thought that has crossed my mind is "hmmm it would have been interesting to know that would be the only baby boy of mine" To which Kyle replied - "Why? you wouldn't have done anything different" - True, true. Except one thing: I wouldn't have moved 8+ BOXES OF BABY BOY CLOTHES FOUR TIMES !!!!! Which leads to this announcement:
Mom of Oz will be consigning GOBS of adorable Boy clothes at the Just Between Friends Sale April 18 & 19 - check out the website and come buy everything from consigner #1414
2. Name: I know everyone is wondering but I can only say... long sigh...we have not officially decided - and with some experience under my belt I am not opening that debate to the public forum - we'll let you know when we (ahem Kyle) decides.
So in the excitement yesterday I didn't blog this important thing:
Happy Birthday Nana - we love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and there is more...

Maiya got a "Big Girl" bed this weekend. The first night went wonderfully - hoopla, pictures and a sleeping girl one hour later WITHOUT "icky' her security blanket - We were thrilled. The next day naptime involved a lot of screaming, crying for icky, numerous protests, and no sleep. That night she fell asleep on the floor. Today she slept there just fine for her nap - so here is to hoping this transition roller coaster is winding down.

Other good news - Aunt Beth finished her first week of Chemo with relatively few problems - I am happy for her and hope the rest of the six months of treatment goes just as well!!!
Meg played her first real song on the violin!! I am so happy and proud of her - she has been working on it for a couple of months now - and I think she sounds really good, but then again I am tone deaf LOL - just kidding with ya Meg. - Well not totally I truly am tone deaf.
While she was here at Christmas, my mom made & froze white beans and rice - one of my favorites!!! Just like cajun red beans and rice, but better. I have tried several times myself but nothing, I mean absolutely nothing is as good as Mom's. I actually call it crack and rice, because I CANNOT GET ENOUGH of this yumminess.
And last but not least - THANKS MEG for watching the kids this weekend so we could sneak off to a four-star hotel in Dallas. With a little help from priceline we had room service, and a movie for less than the regular price of a room. It was a wonderful little honeymoon - I LOVE YOU KYLE!

Can we do it?

Maiya had her first dentist appt. today. She did a great job - They told her to hop up in the chair - she looked at me and said in her little voice "Me a scared" - Everyone assured her it would be fun and she did it all with no tears. She even let them do the fluoride treatment. Then the dentist came in and the conversation quickly turned to her overbite. He asked if she sucks on her fingers. To which I replied, with a sigh, no but she does suck on her blankey. She has since a few months old and I failed a few weeks ago at prying it from her grip. He then says to me well mom its time for the blanket to get L-O-S-T. I said oh she can hear this. I turn to her and say "Maiya - the doctor says its time to give 'icky' to another little baby" He gets this look of death on his face. "hey mom, I don't' want her to get mad at me" - Are you kidding me, are you worried about a little two year old holding a grudge against you?
So back to the battleground. Can I do it? I hate pacifiers - and have had no remorse cutting them throwing them away, etc. with Benjamin and Ella. But there is something about "icky" (Maiya named it that because I call it that so often - fabric sucked on all night is quite gross) I don't know why I am being soft. She just looks so cute in the morning dragging her little pink blanket. I know how fast they grow now - I kind of like her babyish Linus thing. But the overbite, not so much - so I must bite the bullet, for good.
Now my other baby - the weary business traveler has another problem:
This current trip Kyle left on this morning is a conference which involves a lot of people from his company - I think close to thirty of them. The company decided that because of the number of people it warrants sharing hotel rooms, to save money at the $300/night conference center. Now for those of you who know my man - he is hmmmm what are the words?: shy, very private, sometimes anti-social and to top it off takes a VERY, VERY long time in the bathroom in the mornings. Him sharing a room with someone from work? - not a good idea. The rumor is there is an odd number of men, and since he has the most seniority will get a room to himself if that is the case. I am keeping my fingers crossed for him. If it doesn't I hear him yelling in his head, very George like from Seinfeld "SERENITY NOW" Can he do it...
