vicious cycle

I am depressed because my house is messy.

I don't feel like cleaning because I am depressed.

I see a problem here.

What do you do to get motivated?

I am going to blare some music from my itunes.  Something loud but with a soothing voice in it.

Like his or his or his or his

or maybe hers

Having company over always motivates me so I do it often! But really I haven't ever been that great of a cleaner until we moved here. I have a weekly schedule now and it works great! If I don't do it I feel so yucky. So that is my advice, just do it once a week-you'll get used to it.

Have a diet Coke.... that cures just about everything. Not that I would know. That's just what Andrea tells me. ;)

Pretend your mother-in-law is coming to visit!! (Just kidding -- she doesn't come to see your house, just all of you!! And she'll help you clean when she gets there!)

Amy Burr swears by FlyLady. I'm going to check it out. I find myself in the same situation, but it generally about my bedroom. It's just soooo easy to shut the door and not think about it! Out of sight out of mind, right?

Not! I still get depressed even though I avoid that room like it has the plague, but then where do I sleep???? : )

I'm a little late :) but I say just start one "small" project and see how that goes. If you still feel worn out, then you won't have to deal with it long. But if you complete it successfully, then you'll have a sense of accomplishment that could motivate you to continue.

Okay, honestly, this is lame, but in order to get myself to clean up, I think, "What if {insert cool person's name here} showed up right now? I'd be so embarrassed" Then I clean up. lol.
